The ancient theatre of Lindos is considered to be the most important monumental building in the lower town of Lindos. It is situated at the southwestern side of the hill, below the Acropolis and the temple of Athena. The theater consists of the area for the spectators (cavea or koilion) that are carved in the hillside rock, a circular orchestra and a stage building. The construction of the theatre goes back to the 4th c. BC.
The theater had a capacity of more than 1.800 spectators and had 26 rows of seats. The three first rows contained honorary seats, reserved for officials.
It is accessible from the Stavri Square (Entrance to Lindos C) or 10 min walking distance from the Lindos village central square.
